  • How do I take off Nail Salon Fake Nails?

If your nails are strong, you can attempt to do it at home by soaking in an acetone based nail polish remover to dissolve the adhesive, and very gently pushing off the acrylic nail. You should never force it off, because if it is still stuck to your nail, this could result in a lot of pressure on the nail bed and can cause damage to the matrix. The quickest and best way to have them removed is to have the salon do the removal. They know the product that they used to apply them, and will know the best product for removal and the safest way to do so. Good luck. How do I take off Nail Salon Fake Nails?
go to a nail salon or you could damage your nailsHow do I take off Nail Salon Fake Nails?
i always soak my nails in acetone-free nail polish remover to remove them, its much better for your nails than pulling them off and acetone is really bad for your nails.
You can buy acetone near the nail polish remover in any store. You should cut the nails as short as possible and soak them in a glass bowl full of acetone. It will take a while but it will be MUCH better than ripping them off (and less painful). After you're done you should apply a heavy moisturizer to your hands and even cuticle oil (or just olive oil). Good luck.
soak your nails in nail polish remover for a few minutes, then carefully pull them off.
ummm, pull them off quick cuz it'll hurt bad. it's happened to me before. ugh. sorry but its the truth. :-)))
I just rip em off, I start on the left side and slowly lift. You can also use something thin and do the same sort of thing, but slide it between your real nail and the fake nail, that way doesn't hurt at all, I've used an unused nail to do this.
if you've had them for awhile and they're lifting around the edges.. I usually just bite them to break them and then pull them off.. your nails will be pretty funky underneath though...

if you want to pay... to get them off you can go and soak them in a solution at the nail salon... takes a bit though..and usually costs money unless you're getting new ones on
They will soften up if you soak them in nail polish remover. Also, it is much easier to take them off if you cut off the long top part of the nail. They peal much more readily.

Is the away to get off professional fake nails off with out having to go to the nail salon?

it depends on which kind of nails u have acrylics are easiest you put your hands in acetone and it helps geth the acrilyc lose then with the nail Clippers you cut them off but if you have gel nails u r going 2 have to sand them down those r pretty hard to take offIs the away to get off professional fake nails off with out having to go to the nail salon?
yep. get acetone based polish remover.

    it dissolves the glue.

it takes forever though and is kinda a pain.

When you go into a nail salon what do you say?

for example if i wanted gel nails how would i say it? what are french tip nails?? anybodyknow of any good airbrush designs? When you go into a nail salon what do you say?
Yes.... French tips are so out for the summer everyone has already done that get clear and ask for a french but you want color like somthing neon (air brushed and don't get a design those just look weird)

So here is what you would say if you were a walk-in

Hi how long of a wait do you have for someone who wants a set?

    15-20 minutes

Okay thanks (If you don't mind waiting then stay if you do then make an appointment and come back later)

Do you want white tips or clear?

I want clear (because you want to do air brushed)

    Then they do your nails

you just want a color no design

It would look something like this but make sure you tell them that you want them short! deffinentaly not that long!

    http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1189/5671鈥?/a>

    Good luck!

    --------EDIT---------------

make sure that there salon does acrylic! call before you go! acrylic is way better and they last longer! When you go into a nail salon what do you say?
    just say:

hi, i would like gel nails. how much is it?

french tip nails are like pretty natural. the pinkih part is natural, and then they just paint a white tip where the tip of ur nail is =]

    also called a french manicure,

but no matter what, dont get lik glue on nails!

they make ur nails gross and disgusting when u take them off.

also try the french manicure with different colored tips, like black or hot pink!
When you walk in they will prob have a sign in sheet sign your name and write Full set. Or if they ask just say full set. Dont get airbrush it doesnt last very long you're better off with a hand design its more $ but it will last longer.....=]
Just tell them u want a full set with a french
just ask for what u want.

Is a man getting his nails done at a nail salon considered feminine?

How do you feel about that? I think it is feminine if a man gets his nails done, but if he gets his feet done I think it isn't because lots of men have nasty feet and don't take care of them and they NEED pedicures. How do you feel?Is a man getting his nails done at a nail salon considered feminine?
It's metro-sexual - it's nice to see a guy taking care of his body, whether at the gym or in a salon. It shows they respect themselves and know how to treat themselves. It could also mean that he's high maintenance - learned that from experience. I don't think there's anything wrong with it - unless he's getting acrylics on!Is a man getting his nails done at a nail salon considered feminine?
It doesn't matter one way or another to me.
Not really because there are pedicures and maincures that you can get where they do your nails with fungus fighters and stuff, and I'd rather see my man get his nails done, than see him catch a fingernail fungus.
    no
I think it all depends on the color of nail polish used.
Nah. It just means he cares about his appearance.
I think anything a man does for hygiene, appearance, and relaxation is a good thing. My husband and I just went together yesterday for manicures and pedicures.
I work in a vet clinic next door to a nail shop and one of the doctors always goes and gets his nails done. I think it's cute. I like telling his appointments that he'll be right back and he's, just ';next door getting his nails done';. People usually think it's pretty funny.

Is there a latin nail salon in the area of Orlando or Kissimme Florida?

no, people in FL don't have nails...

What is the best way to start a nail salon? I am already in nail technician classes.?

First of all start with your family and friends. Then get a place to begin to do the nails, of course there will be expansion when all of the $$$ starts rolling in. Place advertisements in the local newspapers. If you are near a college campus, purchase an ad, it may even be cheaper. Pass out business cards. There are free ones on certain websites. Depending on the size of the city you live in, you may want to pass out flyers--not mail them, this is another word for junk mail. All of this is low to no cost.

I personally know of three Young Nail Mentors out there who do nothing but the very best work. They are three top notch technicians. Yes, they will cost you more than most, but not $100. Maybe $65-$70 though! But, the end result is soooo worth it. Here is the contact information for Young Nails:

How can i get acrylic nails off nicely without going to the nail salon?

    DO NOT PICK THEM OFF!!!

Get half a cotton wool ball , soak it in pure acetone and place on your nail, then wrap your thumb tip in a small piece of kitchen foil. Repeat on the remaining 4 fingers of one hand. After 10 minutes gently remove your thumb from its foil pod and buff off any bubbly acrylic and replace in the foil pod, do this on the other nails repeating until its all gone. You will probably need to re-soak the cotton wool at some point.

Do NOT pull or pick at any acrylic on your nail or you will damage your own nails. Once one hand is done you do the other hand.

Using foil stops evaporation of the acetone and also heats it slightly which speeds up the process a little, try and get a snug as fit as possible on the foil pod to minimise drips and evaporation.

Picking acrylic off is what gives acrylic nails a bad name, its not designed to be picked off as it takes several layers of your own nail with it. PLEASE DON'T PICK, a little time and patience and your nails should be as they were before the acrylic. How can i get acrylic nails off nicely without going to the nail salon?
Soak them in nail polish remover for like 10 minutes then they will get soggy and start to fall off you wil need to pick at them a little though

i hope this helps! How can i get acrylic nails off nicely without going to the nail salon?
soak them in 100percent acetone. you can get it at local stores anywhere. for like 2 mins. it will look bas but they will come off pretty good and fast. hope this helps
Soak them in Acetone for 10-20 minutes...then get something like a Orangewood stick, and push on the softened nail...don't RIP or PULL them off.
heat up water in a bowl (but not too hot) and mix in nail polish remover then soak your hands for five minutes in it and they should come right off

  • I need some inexpensive ideas for marketing in a nail salon?

How about fliers - ask at the local newsagent etc. Perhaps you could ask at a local hairdresser if they will but up advertising if you will do the same for them?

Word of mouth, or a promotion when you open.I need some inexpensive ideas for marketing in a nail salon?
word of mouth is always the best way but your gazette or your local radio station as they r usually cheaper..I need some inexpensive ideas for marketing in a nail salon?
Do your own small cards and flyers which can be picked up or handed out
A free website that you can construct yourself on freewebs or where ever myspace ect. List your prices and what you offer, have signs put up that can be seen from across the street, or first timers get a discount. Hoped this helped and good luck with the marketing of the nail salon!
Dont know if Im totally with it here, Are you asking for stuff you could 'allow in with you in your nail salon' on a side-line basis, i.e. a tarot card reader, a hair stylist, a manicurist, a pedicurist, a shiatsu practitioner, a masseur, a homeopathy specialist, a dietitian, a homemade honey %26amp; chocolate/fudge maker, a soap %26amp; other cosmetic maker, something that can be 'on the side' in and to the nail salon whilst also working 'with it'

    OR

Are you asking how you can 'advertise your salon' to prospective clients? How you can bring people into the salon with not too much effort or advertising costs etc to yourself, so widening the profit percentages etc.,?

Hope what Iv written at least helps you in some way or another, as Im the one from before that may have wasted your time re the waitressing and barwork answer!! Perhaps I have made up for that with this ...
When you give good service, people will always come back as well as telling their friends.

10% discount for the first visit

    Gift vouchers

    Good luck
Network, network, network. Get the word out, because if I tell 2 people and they tell 2 people and so on and so on.
You should take a picture of an unpainted hand with bad cuticles, thenpaint thae persons hands and make themok realy pretty and under it say This Could Be You
Why don't you make %26amp; distribute your own leaflets.Hand them out in your town centre %26amp; put them through letterboxes around your area - get friends %26amp; family to help. Put up posters in local shops %26amp; public places.
    Advertise in your local paper(s).

Do some kind of promotion. For ex: 10 manicures and you get one free; first manicure, you get free bottle of polish; first pedicure, you get a free ';upgrade'; to some sort of treatment..an extra massage, a paraffin wax, an exfoliating scrub, etc

Do like the other posters said and make your own brochure. Leave it at local delis, restaurants, etc. People WILL pick it up.

Start a referral program. If a good client brings a new client to you, give the good client a 10% discount on her next service. You will have to keep track of this with referral vouchers or something similar (The good client gets a voucher with their name on it, gives it to the new client, new client brings it in and gives it to you, and you mark it down for the good client to get their 10% off.)

Take advantage of the internet. Make sure you're properly listed on any of the online ';phone books'; and make a free webpage for yourself with a list of your services, prices where you located, and how to contact you.

Is there a way to take off gel nails without acetone or going to the nail salon?

yes... how long have you had them on??? if there is any air gaps in the corners like they have tried to come off maybe do the dishes or take a hot bath and just let your hands stay in the water for a bit... the hot water will help with the glue... then you can get them off a bit easier... tho i would suggest going to the salon and letting them do that... it hurts less...

What are the Wal-mart nail salon prices ?

They range in mani-pedis from 15-25.00. Getting acrylics are 20-30. depending on which Wal Mart Salon you go to, and if they are having a special, you can knock 5 bucks off of that price; due to the recession, lots of them are. Pedicures are a steal at 25.00 right now! Not to mention these Regal Salons (the chain name) do a fabulous job! Better if you ask me than any high-end spa for the price! What are the Wal-mart nail salon prices ?
Depends on what you get, whether it's color or just regular. But can range from $20 and up.

And just to say about the first answerer: Just becauseshe had a bad experiance, Doesn't mean it's the same for ALL wal-mart. It depends on the Tech. Some seriously suck, and some are pretty good at what they do.
    Wal mart nails are crap.

EVERY time i get my acrylics there, they mess up and make them too thick/thin.

All the chemicals in a nail salon are they a hazard to your health to breath in?

The masks you see the employees wearing are dust masks for filing nails and doing whatever they do with fake nails.

Dust masks do not prevent chemical exposure, only particulates.

The acetone that is used to remove the nail polish and the alcohol used to clean the nails are hazardous chemicals under OSHA, however, the for time that you are at the salon, you are safe. The employees are more at risk than you are.

Check the Material Safety Data Sheet for the TWA (time weighted average) or PEL (permissable exposure limit) to determine if you fall under the threshold.

You can get MSDSs online for free from www.SpectrumChemicals.com.All the chemicals in a nail salon are they a hazard to your health to breath in?
absolutely! There should be sufficient airflow or ventilation that these spurious emsssions are removed from the atmosphere of your workplace. there are laws governing this, in the same manner as any other chemical area of employment ( including cigarette smoke) It all comes under the laws of Industrial Health and Safety. All the chemicals in a nail salon are they a hazard to your health to breath in?
Yes, anything that smells that pungent can not be healthy for anyone. This is why you see people wearing masks. However, they offer only a small amount of protection against the chemicals in the air. So if you're working there, you should probably quit.
have u ever wondered why, when they're fixing your nails that they wear masks?! yes they are bad for you, not only to breath in but to actually wear also. The people that put them on for you at the salon never wear them, when was the last time you've seen them wearing it, all the stores that u go to or places like salons they wear the products that they sell or they have nice hair, but with nail slons they dont even wear them because they no that they are bad for you.
YES HAVEN'T YOU NOTICE THAT THEY COVER UP THEIR NOSES!!ITS HARMFUL TO INHALE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.

  • Ladies, do you care if a man goes to your nail salon?

I know it seems gay, but I like to get a manicure and pedicure every couple weeks. I go to this nail place by work. The asian women that work there love working on me. But sometimes some of the women look put off by having to sit by some big hairy bloke getting his nails done.

I guess I shouldn't care, but I don't want to offend the ladies. That's why I ask.Ladies, do you care if a man goes to your nail salon?

No, I don't care in a man goes to the same nail salon that I use. It good to know that there are men that take good care of themselves
It doesn't bother me so much if it is just a nail salon!
I love to have my feet and nails done!! My boyfriend used to go with me every couple of weeks also.

He works on cars a lot so the manicure would clean his hands up and make them look presentable.

So, yes, I think that it is perfectly fine. A guy can be pappered also!
i'd kill for a guy that would go with me. you're awesome.
it does not matter to me
they wanted your number. nothing wrong with that. my husband gets pedicures sometimes. he refuses to have his nails done
Not at all, I think it is nice for a man to have clean manicured hands. When I went to beauty school guys came in all the time to get their nails done and they were not gay.
no i wish my man use to he don't give a shyte how his nails look good for u
No, I think it's great. More guys should care about their finger and toenails, plus it shows their not afraid to do things like that, which is great.
No I don't think you are guy I think that you are a guy who cares about him self and that's good cause I wouldn't like to have some ugly Hans trying to touch me. Don't worry does ladies are looking at you because they want you to touch them with your soft Hans :) That's a big plus for me a guy who takes cares about him self.

Does working at nail salon too long cause wrinkles?

Give me a good answer ! Not stupid ones .

Explain.Does working at nail salon too long cause wrinkles?
A person will get wrinkles in any job if he or she works there long enough! It's a matter of aging. However, if you are concerned about any of the chemicals in nail salon work, check the MDS sheets, which should be posted for all employees to see. MDS is short for ';Material Data Sheets';, and means a notice about a chemical that may have safety and/or health issues. They are required to be posted in any place where materials with MDS are used. Ask your manager. If there are any MDS they are to be posted (US federal labor statutes). One thing, though -- MDS criteria are generally about things like cancer and other serious health issues. Whether wrinkles make the cut is another matter!Does working at nail salon too long cause wrinkles?
Why would it cause wrinkles? That's false.

one with good business is gonna go for 9am to 6pm, or even 9 to 9 would be a place i go for!!

Can you work at a nail salon without any qualifications?

You can work the reception desk and/or do clean up. Other than that you will need your license. In our state you need 600 hours of continuing education (check out hair schools) to earn your nail license. no, not unless you have your certificate..the good news though, is that you have now narrowed it down to something your truly interested in, now just take the short course(most of the job is learned on site), and next thing i can sign up for a manicure/pedicure!

How to open a nail salon?

buy some nails, get a hardware shop an bingo there you go!How to open a nail salon?
2 friends I have had who are interested in the same, have had a rough time... the problem is location. All the available locations are booked and free spaces that are available are usually not set up so you will have to invest a ton in plumbing and construction costs aside from how things look. Because you typically won't own the space, this means you are making improvements for someone elses gain,How to open a nail salon?
First I would go to home depot and buy a whole bunch of nails all different sizes. Then I would send flyer's to all the carpenters and home builders in my area and give them a really good deal and deliver the nails as they need them. Good luck.

soak the acrylic in acetone. acetone is the ingrediant in nail polish remover that removes the color. u can get 100% acetone or remover with a high % of it. soak ur nails in it tilll they get loose or dissolveWhat can I use to take off my acrylic without going back to the nail salon?
oh this question is easy. i get my nails done all the time. if your nails are acrylic then soak them in acetone remover, they will get soft and you should be able to peel the stuff off or file it off. if it is solar nails or gel then they will have to take them off or you can use your teeth (may sound nasty, but true). when they do take off your gel nails it hurts so my best advice is try to take them off yourself! What can I use to take off my acrylic without going back to the nail salon?
You need to buy acetone. And soak them in it. It will essentially melt the acrylic. You can usually buy gallons of acetone for really cheap at beauty supply stores.
Get an acetone nail polish remover and soak nails. This will disolve the glue and literally melt the nails.
    Acetone..

if i'm not wrong, there are some nail-polish removers sold at ameneties shops..those may work.

That depends on where it is, how much your costs are (rent, taxes, etc.), how busy you are, how much you charge, etc.

You could lose money, or you could make millions. There is no way to answer this.

Why don't you visit some nail salons in your area and talk to the owners and see if they can give you some general ideas about their income.

How to ask the people at the nail salon for what you want?

Just tell them nicely that you were looking for something in particular, than ask them if they can do it for you.

  • Is it insulting to tip at a nail salon?

The salon I go to does not allow customers to add tip to their bill when they pay with a credit card. This, to me, means that the salon is not encouraging their customers to leave tips.

I've heard that some people are insulted when they receive a tip because it implies that the establishment is not paying them enough.

I've always thought that tipping is a nice way to recognize a job well done, but I don't want to insult any one.

Should I stop tipping at this salon? Is it insulting to tip at a nail salon?
Actually they sound a little devious rather than noble. I was told by a friend in the waiting industry that it's much safer to leave a cash tip than add it to the credit card bill. At the end of the day people don't always claim their credit card tips and that money just goes right back into the establishment. It sounds more like they're promoting people to pay, and tip, in cash, which is easier for them to deal with. If your manicurist does a good job, offer him/her a cash tip. If they still refuse, perhaps they do have honerable intentions. If that's the case send me the address of the salon because wherever I go a tip is expected! Is it insulting to tip at a nail salon?
    I thought it was expected.
    keep tipping
some dont allow it on the credit card slip, but you can always slip who ever did your nails cash. i do. i think it's easyer to decide who gets the tip rather than the company.

i have never heard of any business not aception tips. ..
    No it is not.

My aunt is the owner of her nail salon.

Her workers prefer to be paid in cash....AND....

She says that the problem is, that people don't tip ENOUGH.

Many of the manicurists don't like to accept spare chunk change.

Not to make them sound greedy, but what could they do with a few quarters out of your pocket?

You're supposed to tip atleast 7% out of what your service cost was.

I have witnessed people leaving quarters and dimes as tips.

Yes, it is insulting to leave quarters and dimes. Isn't their service worth more than that. It's a Korean thing.
I would much rather hand the tech a cash tip. That way, I know the person that did the work is actually getting the money that was meant for them.

I never tip on my credit or debit card.
They way I figure, if an establishment does not has a ';no tipping'; rule, then tip. If the individual gets insulted by your gratitude, take your business elsewhere next time.
    keep tipping

its called acrylic powder and you can get it at walgreens and beauty supply stores. you should try calling your local walmart and see if they have it because i think that they do. I hope this helps!!!!
Its powder acrylic and all you have to do is touch it with any nail polish remover to get to to turn hard. If you decide to do it yourself get a mechanic filler, like they use inthe salon to shave it down or else they will be too thick.
usually acrylic or gel (if they put your hand under lights)

Hey, there's nothing wrong at all with treating yourself to a good mani/pedi! I am gay, and I do get them, but not because I'm gay. They help you to keep clean and it's an easy way to relax yourself. I know MANY straight men, and even straight married men who get them. So, just chill. And as to what to wear; wear anything you're gonna be comfortable in. It is, after all, a day at the spa.

and how long do you have to go to school for it?Qualifications of working at a nail salon?
i'm in school for nails now in ga. i will be there for 8 months when i graduate. but if you don't want to go to school you can apprentice under a tech also. they have too apply for a special license . you can type in ..apprentice nail tech in ga or your state and get laws for that particular way. every nail tech has there specialty i honestly thought that the designs would be harder for me since my hand isn't steady put i can do a great french tip. and lines are easier than they look. i say you should go for it. have fun you have to do a certain amount of hours also to graduate. but nobody can ever take it away from you. once you get your license you can do it from your kitchen as long as you follow your states guidelines

Have you evr worked in a salon before? If so, you would know more about the business and know that there is no set amount you would need. • What exactly are those Asian ladies talking about at the nail salon?!?

Of course most of us who have experiences going to the salon know that the women there (usually Asian, not saying always, just usually) always talk to each other in their own language. They'll usually ask personal questions, then they will talk to each other, then ask another question, and they talk to each other again. Does any one know exactly what they are saying? Are they talking crap about the customers as I suspect they do?What exactly are those Asian ladies talking about at the nail salon?!?
I've wondered that also. Your post reminds me of the link I attached. For me, I've had onr particular lady compliment my breast size and even ask if I had implants. I thought that was so bizarre, asking a total stranger about her breasts. And then she tells me to get a size like mine, it would be about 5K.

You're right, though. They ask personal questions, and then they always talk to their neighbor in their language. It's an experience, I'll tell you. And they always try to upsell you on the mud. What exactly are those Asian ladies talking about at the nail salon?!?
Sometimes I wish I could bring in someone that understood what they were saying, but then I am going to be learning Spanish soon. So I will just take in a friend from language classes and talk Spanish about the ladies to each other. (I'll be sure to ask them personal questions first..after they have done my nails :p )
yea, they're talking about YOUR face.

There. Now you have the proof to confront them. Don't worry you won't look like an idiot. We're Americans, they expect it from us. Go ahead and question them about your suspicions.

Don't even question them. Just tell them to stop talking about your face. When they look shocked and quiet down its only because they feel guilty about doing it in the first place.

How do you remove acrylic nails wihtout going back to the nail salon?

Soak them in pure acetone for at least 30 minutes. Then you can scrape the softened acrylic off with an orange stick, or simply use paper towels to rub it off. If it doesn't all come off the first try, simply soak them for another 5-10 minutes and try again. Yes, you can use acetone polish remover, but pure acetone is more efficient for the removal of acrylic nails. One other thing - if you had a UV topcoat applied to your nails, this must be removed prior to soaking. Since UV gels are non-porous, they do not soak off in acetone. Just take a nail file and gently file the topcoat off of the entire nail. UV gels file easily, so it should come off easily.

Whatever you do, make sure you don't force the acrylic from your nails. This WILL cause damage to your natural nails. Have patience. It will come off on it's own.

I hope this helps! How do you remove acrylic nails wihtout going back to the nail salon?
Here's what it says in my mums Milady book::

To remove an Acrylic nail begin by soaking the nail in Pure Acetone, Use a Orangewood or a metal pusher to gently push off the softened acrylic nail, Repeat untill all acrylic has been removed NEVER try to pry the nails off, as it will damage the nail plate. How do you remove acrylic nails wihtout going back to the nail salon?
Finger nail polish remover with Acetone. Acetone is actually what weakens thems and helps them come off... its what the salons use.... Put the remover in a bowl and sit with your fingers in there for about half and hour... maybe more, depends on how good it was done and how long ago too... but it will take them off... after you soak, just start picking and pulling... that is EXACTLY what they do in the salons...
In walmart they sell acrylic nail removal solution in a little container. all you have to do is soak your nails in them, and they come right off.
There is an entire step by step process on ehow..

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2003351_remove-a鈥?/a>
i guess u just peel em.... its best to go to the salon though...next time i wouldnt recoment getting acrylic nails cuz they wruwen ur real nails
if you soak them in nail polish remover the glue will loosen and you can pull them off without it hurting
Let them fall off on their own. That's what I do.

How successfull are nail salons? I will be opening a nail salon in Chicago.?

I will be opening a nail salon mid March and wanted to know what the success rate would be. Any helpful hints from nail salon owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. How successfull are nail salons? I will be opening a nail salon in Chicago.?
I don't own a nail salon but I have been doing my nails for at least ten years so as a consumer, this is what I need and am drawn to:

Large selection of nail polish while constantly replacing the old ones. Nothing is worse than a nail tech trying to paint your nails with old, thick, bubly polish!

Clean, clean, and did I mention clean? Make sure your place is aesthetically appealing.

Hire quality! Make sure the nail techs listen to their clients. You don't know how many times I've had to say ';thin and narrow'; before giving up and vowing to never return!

Have good music! We're in there of at least an hour so forget the tv with poor antenna, give us some good tunes!

Differentiate yourself... Bridal party? Tell them to bring a champaigne bottle and serve them mimosas. *you provide the oj ;)*

When you take appointments KEEP THEM! Most salons say they take appointments but once you get there you'll be there for 15-20 minutes either way.

I've been to the same place for years because of the girl who does my nails not the place. I stopped going because as much as I like her work, the place is just out of date and supplies are old!

For the most part, I've seen some of my neioghborhood salons around for at least ten years which says to me the success rate must be good. I know I dodn;t really answer your question but I hope it helps you be successful by knowing what clients want! Good luck on your new business endeavor! How successfull are nail salons? I will be opening a nail salon in Chicago.?
Try to make a small survey of the region and try to find out if their is a need in the demand from targeted customers of that picticular region. also you can try to find out about the number of nail saloons in the locality and the amount of fees they normally charge.

if you want hints from saloon owners , try to seek some advice from thailand, they are very good at it, maybe the best in the world.

What should I expect at the nail salon?

I have never had a manicure (professionally done) in my life. My nails are naturally very thin and break easy, so they're short. I'm assuming that means I have to get acrylics...? But I want just something simple and nice - like a French manicure type thing. Can they do that with acrylics, or do they need your real nails for that? Please forgive my ignorance! All help will be appreciated! :)What should I expect at the nail salon?
If you have thin nails, then my advice is to stay away from the discount salons. These are the salons that charge typically $25 or less for a full set. Generally, they are the walk-in, no appointment needed places that do your nails in a half hour or so. I say that you should avoid this type of salon because they are famous for taking a Dremel drill and using a sanding band to file your natural nails down until there is hardly anything left. They say this is to make the acrylic adhere better, but it is totally unnecessary. Since you have thin nais to begin with, believe me, they are going to ruin them by using this drill on you. Avoid discount salons if at all possible.

Your best options are either acrylic, or gel nails. The advantages of top quality UV gel nails is that they are durable, non-yellowing, and non-toxic. They are also more natural looking than acrylic nails, and they are non-porous which means that they tend to be less prone to lifting and you can usually go a bit longer between fills compared to acrylics. The downside is that they cost more because the products cost more, and they take more time to apply. They should take an experienced tech no less that 1 1/4 hours to apply a full set of UV gel nails. And acrylic nails should take NO less than a full hour, or more to apply a full set. Expect the price for gels to be anywhere from a minimum of $45 all the way up to $85.

Be sure that you go to a highly skilled, and experienced technician who uses nothing but the best quality products.

Either acrylic, or gels offer a wide variety of colors and glitters, mylar, and other materials can be used in the application process to make your nails stand out from the crowd. But remember, if you opt for gel nails, make absolutely certain that you are getting 'real' UV gel nail, and not acrylic. So many women out there have this scam pulled on them where they will ask for gel nails (higher cost), and the tech will apply acrylic nails, then apply a UV topcoat and call them gel nails. If the tech uses ANY liquid and powder, then you are getting acrylic nails, NOT gel nails. Gels is never a powder. To see what top quality UV gel products look like, use this link:

I hope this helps! What should I expect at the nail salon?
You don't need acrylic for french tips unless your nails are SUPER duper short. .. like really really short.. like some people who bite their fingernails who don't really have nails short.

I get a french manicure every once in a while without fake nails. My nails aren't really long but they aren't too short either.

I think you should just get a normal manicure first since it's your first time and you say your nails break easy. So a manicure once a week for a few weeks so they build some strength and then you can go get acrylics if you want. You can still get a french mani without fake nails tho.
they can do a french manicure with acrylics. you would probably like it better that way because it won't chip and the ends will be longer for the white. they will do anything you want with acrylics. just a get a ';fill'; every 3 weeks or so when they grow out.
Well you should expect no one to speak english, then a lot of touching, it takes a long time. Your nails will be shaped, and smoothed, and the cuticles cleaned off/away from your nails. If your nails are long theyll cut them, so with the french they use tips. I'm always really bored when I go and dont like the massaging of my arms and neck/back, during the process, but am happy with the results.
Of course you can get a french with acrylics, and trust me, they look beautiful (:
    Bring a Vietnamese friend along.
no u'll need acyrlics. but they always look cuter with them on anyways.
they can do anthing to acrylics. any thing at all
Make sure you get some reccomendations of clean nail salons. I live in Hawaii, too and know people that have gotten nasty fungus from some of our salons. There are good ones out there, just do your research. good luck!

ps. french manicures look great on acrylics, better than on the real things, imo!
Acrylics stick on top of your nails and yeah they can do it in simple french polish ... for a really natural look ask them to keep them short. I bite my nails and they are really weak if I do manage to grow them but acrylics worked great for me.
If you are planning on getting acrylic, gel, or fiberglass wraps, be sure that you are willing to commit to having them done about once every two weeks. Having artificial nails applied is not the most gentle thing you can do for your nails, and if you are not willing to keep up with them, you will have damaged your nails further for nothing. However, if you do decide they are a good option for you, they can make them look like a French manicure through various means, either through airbrushing or sculpting them with colored acrylic or gel. If you decide a manicure would be a better option, your nail tech can recommend nail strengtheners that could help to prevent natural nail breakage in the future. Also, I personally think shorter nails look classy with a French manicure. It just depends on how much time and money you are willing to commit.

Have you ever been to the nail salon and they are talking in chineses ?

but when they are in there and they talk in chineses so they can,t hear you and what if they were talking about you what would you do ????? if they said something about you in a negative way?Have you ever been to the nail salon and they are talking in chineses ?
Yes I have. What I don't care if they are talking about me, because they are working for me when their doing my nails. I'm giving them their pay check so to speak. I don't assume that they are talking about me anyway. I just think their talking about their day or something they read in the paper!Have you ever been to the nail salon and they are talking in chineses ?
That's what hair dryers are for. Stick your head in one and U don't hear anything/
That drives me nuts, between the talking and then they might look up and smile. Most likely they are saying nothing about you but then again I guess we'll never really know. Perhaps someone should learn Chinese and play dumb so that we can finally get the truth...lol...Oh what we go through to look nice...lol...Thanx for posting the question I thought I was the only one who noticed this....
Hah, I remember that from a seinfeld episode... they were saying your feet smell.... sorry :)
Yes and it drives me nuts. You know they are talking about you and everybody else in there. That is disrespectful and they need to watch it because someone might be able to speak Chinese and know everything they are saying.
stop being racist you damn ********* e s. What makes you think they're talking about you? they might be talking about your ugly mom
    YES! I have always just wanted to learn one phrase in their language, something like, ';I can understand what you are saying, because I can speake...chinese or vietnamese etc%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;';
All the time. Matter of fact I'm going to the nail salon today and I guarantee it will happen again.
yeah it's worse when they dont start talking chinese until they take off your shoe to start your pedicure.

    b!tc# i don't have ugly feet!
yes it was kind of scary/freaky.
If I feel they are talking about me, here's what I do (may be mean, but they will learn)...when they seat me in the area to dry my hands and toes under the heat lamp (make sure they are done servacing you), and they run your card to charge you, I don't tip and make a note on their copy that says LEARN ENGLISH! Like I said, may be rude...I know I am not there to talk with them, but they can be a little more generous...geez
yep i know what u mean
let them speak without caring for

Iam opening a nail salon, what kind of business structure do i need?

i am opening a nail salon. i went online to get more info, and the first step was to choose a structure. but there are many:

    sole proprietorship

    corporations

    texas business corporations

    texas profesional corporations

    limited liability company

what is the best one. i am going to be the only one there working. but i dont want the business to have anything to do with me. if the business goes under i dont want them to come after me and my peronsal things. what would be the best choice?Iam opening a nail salon, what kind of business structure do i need?
The best choice would be a corporation if you don't want any liability at all. Only problem is, you will have to pay unemployment compensation tax on yourself, so it will be extra money out of pocket. For the type of business your end, what is the real risk of someone suing you or you going into an extreme amount of debt? Those risks exist, but they are much lower for some types of businesses. you should consult your insurance agent; if the risk is low, try an LLC instead of a corp.Iam opening a nail salon, what kind of business structure do i need?
An S Corp. It is like being sole prop. but has the liability controls of a regular corp.

You pay yourself a salary and any ';profits'; are taxed at your income rates. You don't pay social security or medicare on the profits portion, so you are effectively saving 15.4% in taxes. Your salary should be an amount similar to what you would pay someone to manage your business. As you can see, there are advantages if you don;t pay yourself too much by saving on the taxes.

As an officer of the corporation you don't need to pay the unemployment taxes. But you should always check with an accountant for your state.

    When I get a $40 spa pedicure I leave a $8 tip.

So yes, I think 20% is reasonable then, but if I were to get a $20 manicure I would leave more than $4.

Would you patronize a black owned nail salon?

Most nail salons are not owned or operated by African Americans, however if you found one that was licensed and run professionally would you go?Would you patronize a black owned nail salon?
    YES!

~That's a good idea I got tons of girl friends who don't like going because the ladies who work at the salon talk and mutter under there breath in a different language, I bet if someone were to open salons all over like that I would be popular.Would you patronize a black owned nail salon?
If they were good at what they do and friendly, I don't see why not.
    Yes. Most certainly.

    []
    Why not???
    sure, why not?
Sure! I would go to any salon on any day that I needed my nails done. I dont discriminate where I go.
Definitely....Wish you were opening it close to my house, I would be there in a heartbeat!
Well actually it just depends on how your salon operates and how good you are with full sets and such. And most Nails Salons are owned by Vietnamese because they are quite artistic with everything...
it's not who owns it, it's how well they provide a service. i would go.
yes if u don't just becuz of that then ur racist, it doesn't matter what race u are it depends on how good ur work is
of course why not its a stupid question really

Why should someone put u down because of your race/color. and stop u doing something u like doing. Those sort of people are arrogant and stupid and don't deserve to have nails. They are probably jealous that you have achieved something.
Absolutely! I live in the South (USA) and there are lots of black-owned businesses here. As long as I am treated with respect, I would take my business there regardless of race/color/creed etc...

How much money do you need to start a nail salon?

Depends on your area. Are you renting or buying a shop? How many people are you going to hire? So on and so forth. It could be anywhere around 1000.000 on up. hope this helps. Just do some research on the area and find out the codes as well that also can be a deciding factor on how much to spend as well..

Is it awkward if a guy works at a nail salon?

I go to high school. My parents wants me to work at a nail salon during the summer and maybe after school. I know its less work than burger king or something and less messy than construction and the pays and tips are good, but i thinks its kind of gay and weird at the same time. So any tips?Is it awkward if a guy works at a nail salon?
Your masculinity is not defined by your occupation. But in high school kids a re quicker to judge and mock.

If your parents own the salon, or even work there, it will be easier to explain. If the money is good, it will offset the taunts and juvenile remarks. If you use that job to meet and date girls your friends will still tease you, but they will understand that it is not really a bad job.

Being around women all day you will hear their secrets, fears, problems wants, desires, needs and other issues. It would be wise to listen, absorb and store this information for future relationships. Don't offer advice unless solicited.

And remember you get to work around women all day!Is it awkward if a guy works at a nail salon?
i've seen a lot of guys at nail salons. no big.
I don't think it's gay at all. Why not, give it a try.
Why is it so bad you will be around nothing but women I would go with it from that angle if anyone questions you.If the money is good and so is the scenery what's so bad about that, your guys friends should take some pointers from you.
i notice that when i go get my nails done the guys are more popular. so the guys usually are prebooked and i can't get them with walk-ins.

if you're in high school i don't know if you would wanna work at a nail salon. it depends on your confidence. your friends may say something but if you don't let them get to you then they 'll get over it and could think it's cool. good luck!
wat's pay man it all matters about the money.Because one day my friend bobby you may know him from king of the hill anyway he got a part time job in the summer he liked u no wat he worked as?????well do ya!!!!??!?!?!Cause i dont.

    (psst...He worked at wally world)
depends on the guy I suppose.

    I can see several atvantages.

as you say it beats fast food/service industry.

if you are straight-what an opportunity to meet women!

if you are gay-ish-think of all the beauty tips you can get!

either way I'd go for it.
I don't think it is gay at all or wierd. You just have to like chatty women! :) If you are outgoing and friendly and not rough (men do kind of tend to be a little rough), then you should make great tips.

Is there some field that you would like to go into after high school %26amp;/or college? Maybe you could get a job in a related field so that you can get a taste of what you think you may like to do.

Whatever you choose, I wish you all the best.

    Kathleen
If it's their shop -- then it's not strange at all. They pay the bills and need your help. If it's not their business then you should be able to work anywhere you want within their descretion. Find an alternative job and perhaps they will be happy with that too. Just an FYI, many local hospitals hire teenagers to work in the cafeteria or other jobs like that, such as orderly positions. Good luck!
you know what i know plenty of guys that go to school with me that arent gay...and you know whats funny is that they land more chicks then my other straight friends....there are less straight guys in the beauty industry...so when girls or more like grown women see one ...the lack of testosterone drives them nuts....women are drawn to men...gay or straight...asides from the men usually are more sucessful and make more money in the business...

so i say more power to you son...do what you gotta do to earn some cash ...and to anyone that makes fun of you or thinks its gay....it'll kick them in the a** one day!!

oh and guys earn better tips!!
I've know lots of guys that work and OWN nail salons. Guess whos' making the $$? Go for it.
I think it's cool. If you are straight, then think of all the cute girls you can pick up. Also, you can hold their hands and they won't be upset!
it's really YOUR choice, n only you can make your own decisions n follow your heart! if you think you would feel comfortable, then go for it! if not then dont.. personally i wouldn't mind seeing a guy working at nail salon....... it's cute.......... :P.... but it's about what you think! gl ! if you think it's gay and weid then u dont have to. do something else instead! if u dont like something ur not gonna do well in it. u have to have some kind of passion n interest in it.
well, I think it is wonderful, and totally not a gay job - why wouldn't a guy want to be surrounded by girls as a girl, I would rather have a guy pamper me than a girl anyway. Where i come from there is a nail salon called Nailz by Malez. it is always packed. the guys are good looking and take great care of the customers. none of the catty gossip or bitching like a regular salon...

so if your friends have a problem with it, ignore them, and just smile at all the numbers you can get and the girls you get to meet.
its perfectly ok, because ouviously hes just trying to hit on all the girls that go..trust me
well, its a stigma really. The first impression people will get of you is that you're ';fruity';. But i mean if thats what you like, then go ahead. Besides, if you dress like a guy, people won't think you're gay or anything. Sometimes you got to not care about what others think and do your own thing! What other think of you will only hold you back from what you want to do!
Are you Vietnamese? If not, then I think it's not so good... Vietnamese people have the market on nail salons. Try being a server or something easier maybe office work etc... Have some pride!
Shallow people would look at it as ';gay'; but if you're confident about your sexuality there shouldn't be a problem.
most nail salons around me are run by asians and there are always men in there working on nails, it seems that everybody is related in some way.

i think its a good way to work on social skills and make money

    best of luck!
lol, yeah thats hilarious. Unless the dudes gay, its ok.
It depends on what kind of nails your talking about. I worked for a real posh lumber store and sold all types of nails... No, seriously don't think that way (gay), rather think of all the fun answers you can give your friends when they ask why you work at the shop!!

    1. I hold more hotties hands in a day then you'll hold in the next year!

    2. Are you kidding?!! All the women I hang with not only give me tips in cash but tips on dating!

    3. All the mommies want me to go out with their daughters!

    4. I learn more about the female sex then you'll ever get from sex education!

Hey don't laugh, in my day I elected home economics (something all girls did) just to check out the chicks and I turned out to be a pretty good cook while I was at it! Besides, if your making money while they slave that means you work smarter not harder!

Take Care Kid and GOOD LUCK!
unless the guy tlks funny (like in a high pitch voice), nd/or walks funny 2. other than that, i think its ok. if a guy need his feet or nails fixed, the so be it.
    All these statements about it being gay are based on outdated, sexist role assignment. If you know how to give good manicures, I say do it. If someone says you're gay for doing it, tell them ';I hang around pretty women all day ... what do you do?';

And I bet all those ladies will be so charmed by a cute young guy doing their nails that you'll get lots of nice tips!

And your employer will probably also treat you better than the local Burger King manager or construction foreman.
Well you know your not gay right so there,I don't see anything wrong or weird about it.
so. i go to nail salons all the time and i always see guys working there. but if you are in like highskool, i wouldnt cuz, idk, i just wouldnt. so ya.
Who cares what they think? You shouldn't.
i went to a high school of 4,000+ and the town wasn't too big so every where you went you saw people you knew. anyways, i was on the competition cheerleading squad for my high school and we had like 6 straight guys from the varsity football team on our squad. the boys were very popular with the ladies and hooked up with a lot of cheerleaders! so go for it! do what you gotta do!
Not if you're secure in your sexuality. And, it would probably be a way to meet some fairly hot...hands and feet. Girls like guys that are confident in who they are, without being arrogant. If you're not afraid of working in a nail salon and stay cool about it, it will show and you'll be doing a Tag body spray commercial. But if you're afraid, they'll eat you alive.
Yes it is gay, stay out of it.
It does sound g4y for a guy to be working there. That's more of a job for a girl. Maybe you should work at a mall or something.
idk?? i don't but what do i know!!

pick up your phone book and call around, but speaking professionally i would drive around and step inside and take a look around....you need to maake sure that they are a safe and professional nail salon....if you see too many neon signs offering nails and the tech is wearing a mask chances are you're in a nss salon(non standard salon)they only care about your money, they are not that friendly, nor professional, nor educated....i would go to a salon that is clean and professional and that has a tech that knows more about nails than slapping on tips and one who will educate you as the comsumer.... these days i hear too many horror stories about what has happened to customers when going to an unsafe tech... so please choose wisely
in the danbury mall they have a wonderful hair salon where they also do nails. It is great.

Is a nail salon harmful to my childrens?

the docta told me to keep my chioldrens out da nail salon and sniffin dem fumes. but i gots to keep it real wit da tips. dis is one hot mama who aint finta to let herself go. dats how i roll!! do it really hury my childrens? its only a hour maybe a hour and 45 if i gets my feet done two.Is a nail salon harmful to my childrens?
I'm a nail tech, and personally, I discourage any clients from bringing children into the salon with them. It is not a place for babysitting, nor is it a daycare center. It is a nail salon for adults. I don't know of many techs who allow children in their salons. There are simply way too many things that a child could get into which could prove to be harmful or dangerous to them. And I don't know of very many children that will sit - unattended, for an hour and 45 minutes without getting into something or another. The best thing to do is to arrange for babysitting, or similar arrangements. But in my opinion? Children do not belong in that kind of an environment. Just my opinion...Is a nail salon harmful to my childrens?
If you cant get anyone to look after then when you are at the salon, and they have to sit inside while you get your nails done, is there a chair directly outside the store that they could sit on? If they are too small to sit outside by themselves, then I dont think that they should be in the salon, as the chemicals would be even more dangerous to younger children. Most nail technicians claim that after a while of working in the salons, they cannot smell the fumes anymore, the chemicals in the fumes reduce their sense of smell, and you dont want that happening to a young child.

Was it nail painting that you were getting done, or acrylics? Some stores such as Kmart and pharmacies sell acrylic kits that you can do at home by yourself. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but its worth it for the safety of your children. It works out cheaper as well. If you were just getting your nails painted, then you can easily just buy a nail polish from the store and paint that one yourself. You can purchase your own nail kits to keep your nails in top condition too.

If all the above is impossible, would a friend of yours be able to look after them just while you get your nails done? Maybe you could arrange to look after their children one day as well when they have to so something for a while without their children, if they have any?

    Hope this helps!!!
    lol.

    how old are they?

maybe you can leave them home with their dad or ask your mom to watch them?

How much would it cost to open up your own nail salon?

it would really depend on a lot of things. the place you're putting it would be a big factor. the area and how busy that area is would factor into it. like for example it would be more expensive rent per month to be in a busy mall than in a small shopping center. bigger cities are more expensive than smaller cities. also, it would depend on how big the space is. the rent would be more for a larger space, and you'd have to buy more supplies to fill it and get more employees. supplies also vary greatly. especially pedicure spas. we have really nice ones at my work that have massage chairs on the back and light up, i know those cost a few thousand apiece.

you should look into getting a business license and a small business loan. do some online research for the furniture and supplies through google. you can even get brochures at places like sally's or whatever other beauty supply stores you have locally.

Am I allowed to go in a nail salon while pregnant?

I have had mixed reviews and my girlfriend just called me and asked me to go get pedicures after work today. For some reason I am thinking I heard nail salons are no good for Preggo women. Can anyone shed some light on this? ThanksAm I allowed to go in a nail salon while pregnant?
I'm 35 weeks pregnant and have gotten my nails done SEVERAL times while pregnant, my baby is already 6 lbs and healthy as can be. I don't believe being in a nail salon for an hour is going to effect the baby. I wouldn't work at one though..I'm sure exposure over an extended period of time wouldn't be good. IF paranoia is still there, they have masks, ask for one :)Am I allowed to go in a nail salon while pregnant?
I get my nails done every 2-3 weeks and sometimes a pedi along with it. I know that when you are far enough along you should not get a pedi because the way they massage your feet could put your into early labor. I dont think the chemicals will harm you too bad unless they are REALLY strong but ive been going to the same people for a while now so they give me one of those nose and mouth mask. I know i probably look kinda funny lol but it works and alot of the workers there wear them and there are a few other girls i know that go there and wear them.
You can go, but wait until your second trimester, and ask for a mask, a fan, and to be near a window or door just to be safe, so you get enough ventilation from the fumes.

    Congrats and good luck :)
Ok 1st answerer i think she's talking about the smell not toe infections. Im not quit sure about that. I was wondering that too.
I did. There wasn't a lot of chemical smells to worry me. I had my nails done about every 2 weeks while pregnant and my baby was fine.
It's fine to go get your nails done. I go every two weeks. Try to get someone to go your nails near the door so you get more fresh air.
No you can go as long as you don't inhale a lot of chemicals
I get one every 2 weeks. pedi and mani. just tell them to be careful not to cut your skin, so you don't get infections.
yes, pamper yourself and get those toes done! I went very often when i was pregnant with my son
i got a pedi soon before i had my son and in the pictures my feet look great!fatter but great:)
    yep of course.
I just had my nails and toes done last week and I am almost 29 weeks....your fine. :)

Of course MN is a state. Sheesh...

Anyway, I'd guess at least $50 and probably more expensive. Take the picture to a salon and ask. You can go to several salons and compare prices. How much do you think this would cost at a nail salon in minnesota?

When you get your eyebrows done (waxed/threaded), do you go to a professional or just a regular nail salon?

Like do you go to a regular nail salon or somewhere not professional but cheap, or do you go to a pro. and do you like the way your eyebrow is done. and also, how much do you get your eye brows done? When you get your eyebrows done (waxed/threaded), do you go to a professional or just a regular nail salon?
I go to a high end spa and let the pros do it for me. Its $20 which includes the tip, and that's a good price. I do not trust the nails/tanning/waxing places at all. When you get your eyebrows done (waxed/threaded), do you go to a professional or just a regular nail salon?
I only go to the pros. Sure, you have to pay a little extra, but it's worth it. I usually go about once a month to get my eyebrows waxed. It costs me $18 for a clean-up and $26 to get them shaped. Plus, the wax they use at a professional salon is so mush better for your skin and the environment versus the yellow wax at a nail place.
I have my eyebrows waxed every 6 weeks at an upscale salon (they offer hair, nails, makeup, waxing, and massage services). It costs $20 + tip and I LOVE the way they look. I would never trust a nail salon for a wax. You need someone who specializes in waxing to shape them right and not burn you.
It's part esthetics, part hair salon.

So I guess that does count as professional.

    I love the way it's done when it's threaded, it's 100% worth

    the pain.

I do my eyebrows every 3-6 weeks.

  • What is the first thing women think when a man walks into a nail salon?

Do you think they are gay or some kind of softy for getting there nails done pedicure and Manicure with color on bothWhat is the first thing women think when a man walks into a nail salon?
i think its ok. nail salon is not for women only. What is the first thing women think when a man walks into a nail salon?
that he is gay but it's not necessarily true. manicures and pedicures, given by a skilled tech, are great experiences for anyone.
Not at all. It's very relaxing, that's why so many women have their nails done. It's nice to be pampered!

And if the man's gay, he's gay. No big deal.
    it mean he gay
i think where is their wife ot girlfreind
He could be a doctor and trying to be the most cleanliest one he can be sense they are always examining patients.
without color yah whatever with color thats kind of odd but if they like it what does matter
    no not gay; maybe metrosexual
Nothing. The fumes in a nail salon render thought of any kind impossible.
Either he's gay and getting his nails done or a prissy boy .

    OR

hes walking in there to get a gift certificate for his girlfriend or mom.

It all depends on who notices you ... everyone has a different maturity level.
eitha if hes gay or is jus a clean guy that likes to keep his nails clean
is he isnt metrosexual he must work hard with his hands, my husband works with motorcycles and he gets his nails dirty a lot, i wouldnt wanna see him in a nail salon, so i do his nails.
It depends on how he is carrying himself. Some men you can look at and just tell are perfectionist and like to get pampered. It always helps if you go with your girlfriend then there is no question.
    ';What is he doing here. Is...is he getting his nails done? Wow. What a weirdo.';
if they were just getting a manicure or pedicure w/o polish i probably wouldn't think anything of it. now if they were getting their nails painted i would probably thing of them as gay.
Being an former nail tech...the first thing I think is---More money for me!! Manicure or pedicure- let me get out my Cuccio fort茅 di matte top/base coat for men (good stuff!!). Some straight guys get color polish-but they are usually the goth/punk type. I have done nail art on many gay guys though. I love men who take care of their hands and feet. The only time a guy getting pampered appears soft to me is when 1. He doesn't request his nails to be trimmed low (prefers them long-questionable??) 2. He asks for pink polish 3. He asks for acrylic nails
    metrosexual or gay
