How much would a nail salon charge me....?

So I have long nails, and I want to paint them yellow with black tips. I tried doing it myself..but well. You know. I don't want acrylics. I just want them painted. How much would they charge me for this? How much would a nail salon charge me....?
I think around 15 to 20 dollars. How much would a nail salon charge me....?
27-35 Dollars :)
uhh prolly like $15

How do you remove acrylic nails without having to go back to the nail salon?

soak your nails in nail polish remover...

if possible, try to buy one that is 100% acetone.

that's what they would use in the salon to remove your nails and it works a lot faster than weaker removers.

you should be able to find it at a beauty supply store or drug store.

you can help the process along by cutting your acrylic nails down to wear your real nail starts before soaking. you can pry/peel the rest off carefully as the acrylic softens. it should take about a half hour or so.

you might notice that when you remove your fingers from the solution, they'll feel cold quickly. it has something to do with the ions in the acetone evaporating extremely quickly...just remember to wash your hands off when you're done.

definitely put on some nail strengthener polish when you're done. your real nails will be a lot more fragile and thin from the acrylic nail process. your thicker, regular nails should grow in a few weeks.=]How do you remove acrylic nails without having to go back to the nail salon?
go to he drug store and buy pure acetone its the same ting they use in the salon...some nail polish removerhas it in they and will work too just soak your fingers in it until they come offHow do you remove acrylic nails without having to go back to the nail salon?
Most have it right - pure acetone soak for about 25-30 minutes.

BYW, soaking them in warm water doesn't do a single thing to remove acrylic nails, LOL! If it did, then they would come off in the bathtub!

And do NOT pry, or tear them off. You WILL damage your natural nails by doing this. Trust me on that one.
a good soak in nail polish remover with acetone will help to remove them... just be cautious since your natural nail is so thin, you really dont want to shred what little bit is left.. use a strengthener to help with that problem once they are off... good luck!
I soak mines In nail polish remover until you can remove them with a cuticle stick.
soak your hands in warm water for a long time and gently tug at them. dont pull them hard or try cutting them off because this will damage your real nails
Soak your hands in nail polish remover with acetone and they will start to come free and you can get them off. It can take awhile and smells really bad and still might hurt a bit , but I did it pretty easily.
Get a roommate who is from Vietnam.
Look in your pharmacy for products
Soak your fingers in nail polish remover. Use an orange stick (tapered orange wood sticks used for pushing cuticles) and gently push it between your real nail and the acrylic one. Soaking times may vary. Never pull the nail as you can damage your skin.

Have you ever been out getting yourself a manicure or pedi and noticed a guy getting polish (besides clear)?Have you ever seen a guy getting polish at a nail salon?
no lol it would be a little hard to keep a straight face! :)Have you ever seen a guy getting polish at a nail salon?
No, I haven't but then I've been doing my toenails for about two years now, actually since college in the 70's. I can't afford to have someone else do them, and I'd have to travel a good distance from where I live to find a salon with ';open minded'; people who wouldn't mind taking care of men. Just did a color change today by the way, and my wife really likes the color. She chose it.
yes! i was laughing so hard! it was black so i geus its not that bad but it was still funny. he lookd gay to me. he was wearing pink and he was a ginger! [=
    no. lmao!

Can you go in a nail salon while pregnant?

I'm worried about the aroma from the chemicals in the nail salon. I was in there approximately two hours but i had on a mask. I could still smell the aroma a little through the mask and tried not to breath it in as much. Can this be harmful to my baby? I'm 30 weeks...please help. ThanksCan you go in a nail salon while pregnant?
You'll be fine... although getting your nails done (acrylics) isn't recommended b/c the chemical treatment (monomer %26amp; polymer) can absorb into the natural nail itself (but thats at any time, not just in pregnancy!)

No studies have been performed that deal specifically w/ acrylic %26amp; pregnancy...

Also methyl-methacrylate (which is used in some acrylic) is a health hazard due to the potential of allergic reactions %26amp; asthma excerbations... so w/e salon your going to ask if they use MMA... (stay away from MMA salons whether your pregnant or not...)

If they use ethyl-methacrylate (EMA) is a safer alternative...

    Anyways...

just go to a well-ventilated salon %26amp; visit earlier in the day when there are less fumes, Thats good you wore a mask too

yes it can not only is your skin absorbing the chemicals but, your also breathing them in as well.now that doesn't mean that your baby is going to be born with birth defects but, your increasing the risks.

and if you're going to through the effort of avoiding alcohol, cigarettes and legal and illegal drugs to keep your baby safe then add that to the list to.
i didnt go, way to strong. I went to the beauty school which is cheaper and since they dont do nails back to back it doesnt stink, they maybe do one or 2 manicures per day. Theres this other place where i usually go and its sooo badly ventilated that i dont think its good for u ur ur baby
You can, but I strongly suggest you do not. I mean really, just go without getting your nails done for nine months, because doing something like that could affect your baby for the rest of its life. I think your baby will be fine, but don't do it again.
Shouldn't be, I read in my what to expect book that after the first trimester you can get your nails done and everything should still be fine.
You should be fine. Especially since you wore a mask! I just wouldn't go to a place with poor ventilation.

  • How much do fake nails cost at a nail salon?

in pounds 拢 please.........i want to get fake nails (French manicure) how much duz it cost and how long do they stay on for? which salon in Romford is good to get them at? cheap ansers if possible please? how old do u have to be too?How much do fake nails cost at a nail salon?
Ooo, I live near there - not been to any salons there though but I've seen on in the wallwalk that has Greggs on one side, you eventually get to Primark, it's called 'Wags' or something like that.

Anyhoo - acrylic are very hardwearing and will grow-out so you'd need to have in-fills. I can't have these as my nails are quite thin, the acrylic is heavy and lifts off my own nail. Prices vary, 拢20-拢40 but the real expense is the monthly in-fils.

Gel are good, more flexible, lighter and can be soaked off. They will grow out although if you have oily nails, they won't be as long lasting. Again, 拢20-拢40 and as above, the real expense is the infills.

I don't think there's a minimum age but if you look really young they may turn you away...

Have you considered going to Sallys Hair %26amp; Beauty Supplies - it's in the walkway headed towards Woolworths (just before the subway to walk to Matalan)? You can buy the seperate bits, acrylic powder, liquid, glue and tips and have a go yourself. How much do fake nails cost at a nail salon?
The prices range from 拢25.00- 拢 50.00 depending on where you go, the cheapest will be about 拢20.00.

They last indefinitely but you will have to get them filled as your nails grow. As your nails grow, there will be a flat gap between your cuticle %26amp; the end of the fake nail because your own nails are thinner. They will need a layer of acrylic applied to even them out, or whatever the salon decides to put on and this will cost aswell about 拢5.00.

take it up with the manager of the store and try to clear up the issue. then, call the company than manages the store. if that doesnt work, call the cops.

3 weeks ago I went for manicure and am wondering how to remove acrylic nails? Do I go back to the nail salon?

I have acrylic nails on my fingernails and don't know how to remove them or have them re-done. The manicure was a Mother's Day gift and was the first time I got a maniciure with acrylic nails. I don't want to go back to the same salon because they were too rough when filing my nails ~ they filed into 3 of my fingers (ouch) and didn't even apologize. Anyway, my real nails are growing out and it doesn't look too nice at this point in time.3 weeks ago I went for manicure and am wondering how to remove acrylic nails? Do I go back to the nail salon?
u can dissolve the acrylics off with acetone...3 weeks ago I went for manicure and am wondering how to remove acrylic nails? Do I go back to the nail salon?
I've had my nails done before, and usually had them filled once, then would rip them off the second time they needed filling. Ripping them off is not recommended, as it left my real nail brittle, and pealing.

This last time I had my nails done, I looked up options for removal, and the best one I've come across asks for cotton balls, pure acetone, aluminum foil, a rag or cloth, heating pad (optional, but will speed up the process), and an orange stick/cuticle pusher.

One hand at a time so that you're able to change channels as you watch TV (this is kind of a long process): Soak cotton balls in the acetone, and place these on your nails (this is better than soaking your whole fingertip as acetone will drastically dry your skin). Wrap your fingertips in aluminum foil to hold that cotton ball in the right spot. Wrap your hand in the rag/cloth, and then in the heating pad set on low. Wait 15 minutes, then rub off the loose/mushy acrylic material with the orange stick. Repeat until your nail is cleansed, then file any rough edges and put on some clear polish.

And during my ';research'; I found out that Solar Nails are just a brand of acrylic nail. Same old stuff, just sold for $10 more because it sounds fancy. I like the ';Pink and Whites'; more than the regular acrylic because with regular they glue a white tip on and use the same clearish-pink powder all over the nail. With Pink and Whites, the glued tip is slightly clear and two different powders (one pink, one white) are used to create the coloring. That way if you start with short nails, they can put the divide line in a more natural spot, instead of starting in the middle of your nail where the tip is glued.
Well, either you go to another salon and have them re-done (they'll deal with your nails growing in and refreshen the acrylic) or you can get a large bottle of acetone and dip your nails in that and file the acrylic off yourself. That takes forever and day but it's cheaper than a nail shop. Acetone is basically nail polish remover without all the additives -- get it from a beauty supply store.
Go back and get them soaked off. It wont hurt your real nails as bad as just peeling them off does. I wont get arcrylic nails... I always get solar nails. They are much prettier and last longer. To get them redone you go back to the shop and get what is called a refill. You might need a cutdown too, especially after 4 wks.
you can go to a beaty store like sally's and buy some acetone and soak them off. they will come off, but it will take awhile and it will be messy. you might try putting a bowl of the acetone in a bowl of hot water to speed up the process a little. you will probably have to scrap the acrylic off as it gets soft. if you can't find pure acetone nail polish remover with acetone will do just fine.
Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. I would go to another salon, and ask for them to be removed. If you don't want more acylic/solar nails, ask for a regular manicure...I say this because sometimes when they take the nails off, there might be some slight temporary damage - this either goes away naturally or just grows out.

If there were any salons I would be more concerned other than Asian mall salons, it would be a Hispanic run salon. As a former nail tech, I know how little enforcement is done on salons and unlicensed techs. With Asian salons, there is a concern of using MMA (Methacrylic Acid) that has been banned in most, if not all, states.

Salons run by, and/or employing illegal immigrants run the risk of passing on disease(s) that, until recently, have been eliminated from the US. When illegals cross the border, they skip the medical evaluation and bring typhoid, swine flu, polio, etc.

It depends on what price they have for any design and nail color.
They have the silver tips now and they are nice and the one where you paint the top of the tip and not color the bottom. Try the silver tips, i love them.

So, the nail salon I used to work at serves wine by the glass....?

Even though they have their permit and so forth, isn't it pretty much still illegal that they serve wine, and aren't they suppose to serve some kind of food in order to serve wine? So, the nail salon I used to work at serves wine by the glass....?
Depends on the State but in California yes, you are supposed to at least have food available if you're serving it until a certain time in the evening. Just tell them to keep some chips and salsa in the back in case ABC asks, you can say, well we have complimentary chips and salsa available... available being the key word. So, the nail salon I used to work at serves wine by the glass....?
sounds like ur only mad bec u don't work there anymore.

YES!!! definately go back to have them removed professionally..you can damage your nail beds and damage how your nails will grow in the future by trying to pull them off etc..if you do not wish to go back to the salon, then go to a beauty supply store, buy pure accetone polish remover and some marbles help the process a little..put the accetone and marbles in a glass bowl and soak one hand at a time, it takes a while , but this is the proper way to disolve and remove accrylics.3 weeks ago I went for manicure and am wondering how to remove acrylic nails? Do I go back to the nail salon?
You could go back for a fill in or soak them off with alcohol.
Well you can either go to a nail salon (a different one of course if you are uncomfortable with the one you already went to) and have them filled with more acrylic. Or you can soak them in acetone nail polish remover for about 5 minutes and they should pull right off.

    Good Luck
If you don't want to go back to the nail salon, i would suggest soaking you nails in acetone. It can be a little time consuming, but at least you don't have to worry about someone trying to file your finger off.
well you have 2 good options.. you can go back for refills..(they will fill the grown out part in and blend it in with the rest of the nail).... or you can go to the salon and have them remove the nails. i DO NOT recommend trying to pry the nails off or remove them yourself. this is so damaging and will remove the top few layers of the nail. after you get them removed you can lightly buff your natural nails so they look even and put a clear polish or nail color on them with vitamins and that helps strengthen them

How do the nail salon people do fill-ins on acrylic nails?

Nothing that can't be reversed. If you have to get acrylic nails, go out and buy acetone polish remover, soak cotton balls in it, and let it sit on your nails until it becomes gummy and you can peel them off. Just watch out for surfaces! (Acetone polish remover will strip surfaces). If you just get them painted, simply use non-acetone remover to get it off. If you have to get a pedi, sit back and enjoy it, then cover your feet if you need to. I probably would have bet against the Colts, too, so let her have her fun have take care of yourself after.

Do you bring your children with you to the nail salon?

My daughter is going to be 3 next month and loves when I do her nails and I am going to get a pedicure done after work today and was thinking of bringing her with me instead of having my husband get her and let them paint her nails... will they do this (JUST paint) and for a small cost and do you think she'll annoy others?Do you bring your children with you to the nail salon?
Personally I wouldn't want a child around if I was doing nails. There are a lot of dangerous chemicals in a salon and my mind would be on the safety of the child not the job I was supposed to be doing. Also I'm not sure I'd want to inflict acrylic monomer fumes on one so young and there are bound to be fumes if its busyDo you bring your children with you to the nail salon?
Its always fun to have a bonding day with your daughter but when you are pampering yourself, its your time so relax and enjoy it. I think daddy should take her to a store and let her pick out her fav nail color and mommy paint them when she gets home. Another idea is to have a little pampering party at home with her and a few friends and do a dress up and paint their toes and fingers. As a nail tech I was sometimes distracted and annoyed when I try to pamper my clients and my client is distracted by having to keep an eye on thier kids. Moving, shaking, yelling, etc., Yes annoying for others too coming to relax. I love kids but they are better to stay home.
Luckily I don't have young children. But as a customer of a salon, I resent when people bring young children - I don't care how well behaved they are, eventually they are going to get bored. The best is the new mother with the infant who cries the entire time she's getting her pedicure. You can't tell me that's relaxing for her! Just like it's not relaxing to the rest of us in there at the time. I'm paying good money for a nice relaxing manicure / pedicure and I don't really want to deal with young kids running around. You just keep doing her nails at home and let Daddy have her while you enjoy a little pampering .
If you really think she'll sit still and not be loud then it shouldn't be a problem to bring her. But if you think there's any chance she could aggravate the other customers I wouldn't bring her cause lots of women use their nail salon time as a time to relax and have ';me time'; and it just wouldn't be fair to them when her dad could watch her to avoid that.
If shes a normal 3 year old, bring her.. if shes very hard to control..don't. Most people in nail salons are women and have been mothers at some point. we understand and think its cute when we see a little one getting her nails done. If you were just going to get your own done and expect her to just sit there the whole time than no. Thats kind of mean
You know your child better then us. do you think she will sit and wait. Usually 3 years olds are not patient. Maybe you can also get her a pedicure . It wont really be a pedicure she will just be getting her feet soaked and toe nails polished. It will be fun for her.
No, its very distracting for not only the tech, but for others who may be there as well. The techs and other employees are not babysitters - it is a professional place of business. Kids don't belong in this environment. Just my opinion...
    only you can know that.
you can...it will cost about 3-5 dollars I would think

    but if she's bad...i don't think so

  • How do I remove my gel nails without having to go to a nail salon? Acetone?

Everyone says that acetone works and so I have a nail polish remover that has acetone in it! but, some people say that it doesn't work. i have like, one night to get them off before I go on a date and my nails look absolutely haggard. i'm like, broke and so i can't go to the salon to get them removed. 2 broke and i was able to peel some of it off but there is still leftover gel stuff. it kind of feels like glass. anyways... what should i do? i know that they're gel nails. the lady didn't use a powder.. she used some weird liquid stuff and i had to put my nails in and out under a light thing. anyways. help?????How do I remove my gel nails without having to go to a nail salon? Acetone?
You cannot soak gel nails off. You already asked this question, and my best friend answered it for you. If you don't believe her, then do this. Try soaking your gel nails in pure acetone for a half hour, and see what happens. Nothing, thats what will happen. Gel nails cannot be soaked off. Period. Go ahead and try it. And if they do come off, then you didn't get gel nails after all. You got acrylics, but you most likely paid for gel nails, which is always higher in cost than for acrylics. Also, gel nails are NOT made from some ';weird'; liquid stuff. They look just like gel because they are gel. They are not 'liquid stuff'.

Oh, and 'everyone' that says acetone will work has no clue as to what gel nails even are. They are wrong by saying to use acetone. Like I said, try it if you want to. If you have real gel nails, acetone will no affect them in the least bit. But whatever. Some people just won't listen...

If you want to see what REAL UV gels looks like, follow this link...(notice they are NOT liquid...)

    http://www.cnd.com/Home/homelink-consume鈥?/a>

Now, those are real, top of the line UV gels. If the ones that were supposedly used on your nails didn't look like this, then you do not have gel nails. Geez, just how much easier can we make it for you, LOL! You can listen to a bunch of kids, or you can listen to a nail pro with over 18 years experience in doing nails. Its totally up to you...How do I remove my gel nails without having to go to a nail salon? Acetone?
Soak your nails in an acetone nail polish remover for a few minutes at a time. Every few minutes file across the surface of the nail to remove a bit of the softened gel. Repeat until all of the gel is off. Maybe the folks who said it wouldn't work were using nail polish remover without acetone?

Also, you need to soak, not just rub with cotton. Hope this helps:-)
    soak it in nail polish remover.. the gel will just melt,then u can pull them off without it feeling like anything.. dont just pop them off,that hurts,good luck :}

Where would i go to get a brazilian bikini wax? at a nail salon? or a hairdressing salon?

i've never had one before so i have no idea where to go.Where would i go to get a brazilian bikini wax? at a nail salon? or a hairdressing salon?
Most definitely go to a reputable, and upscale day spa if it is within your budget to do so. Most will have well trained, and experienced esthesticians who will perform the waxing services for you. Plus, its a great environment - quite relaxing, which helps when getting a Brazilian!

Sure, you can go to a hair salon too. But at a nail salon? Such as a 'discount' salon (those strip mall places that charge like $25 or less for a full set. I don't know if this one does waxing or not, but Regal Nails in Walmart is a great example of a 'discount' nail salon). I would not suggest going to one of those places for anything - not for waxing, or for nails either, because the vast majority of the time the person performing these services is untrained, has little experience, and in many cases, they are unlicensed as well (Not all, but in many states, a license is required to perform any type of body waxing). Thus, they are typically not qualified to do the job. In addition to that, these salons are well known to be quite filthy in terms of bacteria, and germs which can be very harmful, even dangerous, to your health. This fact has been well documented over the past few years, and more and more are being heavily fined, and even shut down because of these things. Avoid this type of salon. They may be cheap, and save you a few bucks, but seriously, isn't your health and well-being much more important to you than the possibility of saving a few bucks? But hey, its your body, so where you choose to go is your choice. This is only my opinion.Where would i go to get a brazilian bikini wax? at a nail salon? or a hairdressing salon?
    My House!!!!
Go to a nice salon/spa for your first one...I have known people that have had awful experiences at nail places with waxing, but I have never had any problems at my spa. Go to a place where they are known for doing it...ask around to your friends to see where they go.
Brazil??????? OKay Cmon that was KINDA funny.... Just a little bit.
An upscale hair salon. I always hear news stories about nasty diseases being spread at nail salons. You get what you pay for.
I would suggest a beauty salon that specialises in brazillian waxing.. Prior to having it down have a nice HOT bath to soften everything up and the hairs will come out easier and less painfull.. Good luck
depends on where you live, in larger cities a lot of those places have both kinds of services, but, your best bet would be checking with a day spa
Do you mean a bikini wax done by a Brazilian? Sounds simple enough to me...
at a beauty salon!but ive seen loads of salons(nail AND hair)doing it.
    At a spa

Is it true that you shouldn't get your eyebrows waxed at the nail salon anymore?

I heard that one lady retracted a disease from it because they never change the stick that sits in the hot wax all day. It makes since becuase germs are just being transferred from one person's face to another! Is it true that you shouldn't get your eyebrows waxed at the nail salon anymore?
not necessarily your eyebrows. you can get std's when you get a brazilian. they do change the sticks but not the wax, and when they dip they stick then dip it again for more wax, that is when the germs go into the wax and then because it' warm it more or less acts as a incubator and the germs go onto the next person. so caution is a must when you get any sort of waxing done, but i'm more worried about if i got one downt there! Is it true that you shouldn't get your eyebrows waxed at the nail salon anymore?
omg .. i never even thought of that .... yikes .. guess i gotta go buy my own eax kit now ..

An etiquette question. Is it ok to talk to your friend at a nail salon?

If you went there for girls afternoon is it ok to have a conversation with your friend while getting a pedicure? An etiquette question. Is it ok to talk to your friend at a nail salon?
My Best friend and I do this once a month we go in and get Pedi's and we talk about our kids and husbands and jobs. But we keep our conversation on the down low. We are talking quietly to each other back and fourth.

I do not know why people would think that is rude. I mean hello have the mani and pedi girls speak in a different language to eachother and I have no idea what they are saying. They could be dissing my feet for all I know. And I consider that rude. But that is just me.An etiquette question. Is it ok to talk to your friend at a nail salon?
I would think so, sure. The only thing to keep in mind is that YOUR conversation is probably not interesting to all the other people in the shop, so keep it low and localized and act like a lady. Same thing with cell phone calls. The rest of the shop does not want to listen to your conversation.
Bandeymm when you said you feel like Elaine on Seinfeld I was hysterical b/c that's what I say But anyway sure it's fine %26amp; enjoy your relaxtion isn't it great
NO! Sign language may be acceptable in some situations though.
    Yes, it's absolutely fine.

What should I expect at a nail salon?

I have always been the type of girl who can do my nails on my own and manage to have them look cute....but I really want to learn how to do my nails like the experts do...so what can I expect at a nail salon? What should I expect at a nail salon?
Well I was the type to do my nails at home too but the other day I went for my first pedicure and loved it. I got a ';spa pedicure'; and it was very relaxing, having someone else doing all the work for you. I would recommend doing it at a salon. If the spa pedicure is too expensive, just try out the regular pedicure for the first time =) Good luck! What should I expect at a nail salon?

    nothing some weird girls there

I sit and sit in the waiting area of a nail Salon, but I am totally ignored. As A guy, why am I totally ignored as I sit in the waiting area of a nail salon?
They are probably thinking your waiting for your girl. What kind of guy gets his nails done? lolAs A guy, why am I totally ignored as I sit in the waiting area of a nail salon?
I don't know if you want to get girl or something..ha ha i'm just yanking your chain :)

    A salon is a place for ladies mainly a nail one to relax look Fabulous and try to impress people like you...just not at that second. if I was at a nail salon I wouldn't want anyone to see my my hair all crazy n my messy nails %26gt;.%26lt;

Or if you are married or have a girl i think it's because they FEEL that the men are just there to pay for it and love it. If your not getting anything they really don't want you.. it's kinda like you are in a pizza store and you don't want a pizza but you sit in the lobby there just going to igore you unless you buy something
Because you don't go to the counter to let them know you need their services.

For example, when I get a haircut, I don't just sit down and expect them to call me. I go to the counter and let them know I need a haircut.
well mainly girls get their nail done. if you wait over 15 minutes ask for a person to get you what you need. once you continue comeing they will notice you.
Next time I go to a nail salon I'll wave at you then come over and give you a hug.

How do I report unsanitary conditions at a local nail salon?

    Darlin,

I'd file a complaint to the Health Dept...plus I would be telling everyone, I knew...Don't go there!!!....If U feel they r unsanitary conditions, Darlin...do not hesitate to take action....that is a big no,no...they r trying to cut corners in order to compete w/ some of the nicer places...Good Luck!!!How do I report unsanitary conditions at a local nail salon?
i guess look in the phone book and see if theres a BBB number (Better Business Bureau) or call the Board of Health.

there was a nail salon at our mall here that got shut down for not cleaning their drills and ruining peoples nails. 2 of my friends were getting their nails done there and the people doing it where making their hands bleed and basically rubbing the tools across their bloody nails... its sick, thats why i will not go and get my nails done.

  • Would you go to a Nail Salon if it was in a house?

I was thinking about opening a nail salon with a friend and putting it in my house. Would you go to have your nails done in someones house. I was going to make it completely professional with a manicure station and pedicure station. Whats your opnion?Would you go to a Nail Salon if it was in a house?
I have my shop in my home as well as it works out perfectly because I have no booth rent to pay....but the only downside to it is that you have to be careful about who you let into your house cause ppl will steal your products especially nail polish not saying that that doesnt happen in a ';real'; shop....just be careful because if you dont have your house registered as a business and state board comes in(unknowingly)you could be in troubleWould you go to a Nail Salon if it was in a house?
yes i would.....it's no big deal especially when u know the customers there is no problem......in fact my aunt has a hair salon(if u want) in her house and believe me she's making a lot of money!!!!!!!
personally i wouldnt , i just wouldnt be comfortable. I think that you shouldnt bring work home and you would be so comfortable if you had your own shop
Never and Never. If I am given the power I would ban all these nail salons from USA. They are making all americans lazy and think about only their nails.
No, not really unless you know that peron really well. Cause there are alot of weird people in this world. If you don't know them then that might be just like saying ( I have some candy for you if you get in the car and ride away with me) So my best choice is not to. You never know what could happen. And if you want to have your nails done you need to go to a professional, or else they might not know what they are doing and mess up your nails.
there are lots of people that have a salon in their home. actually i think it's great. i think it's more comfortable for customers because it seems more inviting. i'd go...as long as the service and pricing was good it wouldn't matter to me.
sure, why not? it just says that the biz is simply starting out and they need to start small. I am sure if you advertise properly you will get the successful buisness you want! Good luck sweetie!
i have gone to one in someone's house. it was fine. i was a little uneasy at first, but my housemate said shes gone before so i went too. the lady was real nice. it is kinda like a sun room she turned into the salon with about 5 tables. it was nicely designed and it felt real personable. she even gave us hot chocolate and other things. i've been there a couple times. she is a little more expensive, so if i can make it to the mall, i do- but if not, i go to her.
I would not unless I knew the person. There are allot of crazy people in the world.
nope never goe to a house alone there mite be a roving nail .

What is the best way to advertise my nail salon on a $100.00 per month budget?

With $100 - you can't really. Paper advert? What is the best way to advertise my nail salon on a $100.00 per month budget?
    1) Join woman's clubs...talk is cheap.

    2) Let people know what you do... Go to church.

    3) Offer a discount coupon to get people in... to show them your quality work.

JC, In business for 27 years! Its the best. What is the best way to advertise my nail salon on a $100.00 per month budget?
Hi, you could create some advertising leaflets, print them off and do a leaflet drop around your local area advertising an open evening. Invite people to come along for a glass of wine and nibbles. Give discounts on certain products for a limited time and offer money off vouchers for secondry treatments boked. Advertise girls parties, offering to book out the salon for a length of time and pamper the girls with nail treatments for a birthday treat. Printing the leaflets wont cost much at all %26amp; leaflet dropping door to door costs you nothing. Put your leaflets up in other shop windows, supermarkets, petrol station counters, etc. You could ask hairdressers if they will put a leaflet up for you %26amp; you can offer to put a leaflet u of theirs in your shop. Contact your local newspaper and see how much it would be to include a leaflet drop inside the paper. There are many ways to advertise without costing too much so good luck with it! :-)
Well with £100 try thepixelsite.com .You can get a large advert for even £5.It's received lots of media publicity and has received a large number of hits in it's opening few weeks.I advertised my website business and my hits and sales have increased dramatically. Also the advert is just a one-off payment and your advert is on the site permanently. So it's worth a try. Take a large ad with anything above £5 and you would be receiving maxi um publicity on the site.

It's more effective than flyer's and more reasonably priced then newspaper ads.
Print out some flyers, (cheap enough using your own pc) and pay some local children to distribute them in a large shopping centre car park and in the roads and area around your shop.
Print some business cards. Go round to related businesses, such as hair salons, tanning salons, accessory shops etc and develop relations with them whereby you recommend each other customers.

Forget about print advertising, its too expensive and not effective. Word of mouth, reccomendations are free, and also the most powerful way to sell your services.
Keep in mind your bisiness is local...most of your clients are from a 10-12 mile radius..so advertise where they are. Local print media is the best (besides word of mouth and reputation) do small ad's in newspapers and things like maps and phone book covers...cheap yet effective as it is in my business
    Good Luck with your salon.

Word of mouth is by far the best way of advertising.

Just continue to do a good job for your clients and the word will soon get around.

Also a cheap way is to post 'flyer's' through doors, or you might give a couple of flyer's to your clients to give to their friends.

Where is the best nail salon in Sacramento?

I just came back today from a horrible nail salon, they made 3 of my cuticles bleed, and cut my feet accidentally.. and the french manicure is really messily done.. but it cost me quite a lot 60$ for pedicure and manicure. And the nail people were talking to each other in another language, and laughing.. not really concentrating on the nails. Does anyone know of a good nail place in Sacramento, that is very professional, and treats you well? thanks.Where is the best nail salon in Sacramento?
Well, you're describing a so-called ';chop shop'; --- and any salon which makes your feet bleed is a salon to avoid -- that's an infection waiting to happen, and there are hundreds of stories of pedicure horrors in the state of california, alone. I've linked you to some storeis about pedicure woes.

health department?Where would you report an unsanitary nail salon?
I think it depends on the state. Try your local health department. If they aren't the right people to talk to, maybe they can direct you to the right people.
Maybe your states health department? or the Better Business Bureau? Also spread by word of mouth so they lose or don't get any new business
    your city's Department of health
There should be some city, county or state department of health that should be in charge and give them the ok to do business. You should start there.
report it to the manager of the very same salon and he willl probably do something about it... if u dont want to tell someone that is stupid enough to do it and have them do it for you.

P.S. Please make this ur best answer.
Probably the local health and safety department
the health and safety executive if in ireland...otherwise comparable body for different countries
Call the city line/directory. Usually it's a weird number, like ours is 3-11. Ask for where to call for the health and safety department, or just tell them your problem and ask for their advice as to where to go. Good for you by the way! I'm so sick and tired of people looking at that as ';tattling';. You're doing a great thing by helping out the city like that.

Nail Salon not sterilizing their tools between customers, is this illegal ?

I have been going to my nail salon (asian operated, like most of them) for over a year now to get my acrylics done and during conversation with my sister she said i should be careful to make sure that the staff are sterilizing

their tools between customers. I never really took much notice of this before but the next time i went i noticed that they are not sterilizing their tools between customers, which can cause many infections.

So this lead me to ask, is it illegal to not sterilize ?

If it isn't, it damn well should be!

Let me know your thought :)Nail Salon not sterilizing their tools between customers, is this illegal ?
It is illegal in most, if not all states to do this. The laws generally specify that the implements to be used on other clients are to be disinfected with an EPA approved disinfectant, and stored properly after disinfection takes place. But you are right in saying that no files or other implements used in nail services should be used on another client without first properly disinfecting them. That can, and often does lead to infections, and possibly the transmission of certain diseases as well.

Some things, especially nail files, and sanding bands cannot be disinfected. They would fall apart in the solution. In this case, a new file would have to be used on each client, and then either disposed of after the service, or what a lot of techs will do is to offer the file to the client for their own use. But in no case are they allowed to be re-used on another client. Unfortunately, the fact is that many salons ignore the laws. This is true for most of the discount salons that I have ever seen, but it is also true for some upscale salons as well. Keep your eyes open, and don't feel afraid to ask questions about their disindection practices. Sometimes it is very obvious that things have not been disinfected, such as when a sanding band has white dust all over it prior to them using it on you. Don't let them do that to you. Demand that new files and sanding bands be used on you. It's your health, you have the right to do demand that they follow the laws. If they don't you can file a complaint with your states regulating authority - usually the department of public health or a board of cosmetology. The name varies by state, but I'm sure you can find a general information number where they can direct you to the right people to file complaints with. Its amazing what some salons try to get away with. Here are a few links to some videos, and articles which may help you in identifying some of the hazards you should be on the lookout for in a nail salon:

I think it depends by state

I know in Ca it is...

you can go to the BBB and report them

thats very bad i suggest brining it up to the manager.

that might get them to chage before having to get them shut down
yea its illegal...nd u should change nail places cuz i met some lady that had all her fingernails fall off because the place she used to go to didnt sterilize their tools
Yep it's illegal. I would change salons. You could say something but they may take it personally and screw something up.
I don't think it's illegal, just stupid. If you're concerned, alsways ask them to sterilize before you start. That way you can see them do it or see anything that needs autoclave sterlization come straight out of the bags.

Watch out if they don't do it though, if you get a fungal infection under an acrylic, they probably won't clean it up properly before putting new acrylic over the top!
yuck. you can get all kinds of nail diseases/fungus infections etc. Call your board of health in your city first and report them. Change salons and hope you haven't already caught something. Better yet, do your nails at home yourself and save your money !!
    Sue them!
If it is illegal, do you actually think the little Vietnamese ladies care? Unless something seriously wrong happens to you, nothing is going to change.
It is very illegal not to sterilize tool between custmers. At my salon we use a new sand bit for each customer, wash and sanitize all metal drill bits between clients, new or washed and sterilized files for ever client and especially washed and sanitized tools for every client! I know most salons do not follow this and it is very unsafe. You can spread germs, illnesses, infections and things such as hep C, also fungus. Please try and find anoter salon that is clean.

How much does it cost to open a nail salon? Do you need any special license?

Like Mona Lisa said, it really depends on the size and location of where you want to open the salon. Spa pedicure chairs are expensive ($3000 and up) and the equipment for nails are expensive too. You will most def. need a business license that needs to be renewed and obviously a cosmetology license to do nails for other people. You can easily search for prices of manicure tables, pedi spas, nail files, and machines on google. How much does it cost to open a nail salon? Do you need any special license?
I don't know how much it costs but i now you need some sort of license! How much does it cost to open a nail salon? Do you need any special license?
Oh , gosh...I should know this because my mom opened one not so long ago and she's worked as a manicurist for many years. But, I think it depends on the location and the property value. I am not really sure, and I think you need a license for your specialty in cosmotology...I am not sure about the owning one. Probably not of much help. Good luck!
Most likely you need a business license to open the salon and a cosmetology license to do the nails. Check with your state's licensing board or the local SBA (small business association).

Can anyone help me find a great Philadelphia nail salon?

Can anyone refer me to a clean, customer service oriented, skillful, non-Asian owned/operated nail salon in the city? I'm not racist, I just have needs that simply cannot be fulfilled by your typical run of the mill Asian nail salon. Can anyone help me find a great Philadelphia nail salon?
I know just what you mean. I do not live in Philadelphia, but I can provide two links to salon locator's which should help you find what you are looking for. One of them is owned by Creative Nail Design. The other is owned and operated by BeautyTech, com which is a very large, and highly successful site dedicated entirely to nail %26amp; other beauty professional from around the world. The link is to the consumer oriented site, beautytech.info. I think these will prove to be helpful in your search for a reputable salon. The last place I would ever want to step foot into for any nail services is one of those typical strip mall chop shops. Just a side note: I have found that one of the easiest way to tell a discount salon from a reputable salon is by the name itself. This is not always the case, but it's true in most cases. For example, not many American owned and operated salons would ever call their salon by names such as Tip Top Nails, Happy Nails, Hollywood Nails, Star Nails, Barbie Nails, Lucky Nails, American Nails, Regal Nails, Lovely Nails, Pretty Nails, and well, you get the point. The list goes on and on, but salons with names like these are typically non-American shops - exactly the type of salon that I would avoid at all costs. But, thats just me. I hope this helps. Good luck!

What is the difference in a pedicure from a discount nail salon and one from a spa?

You'll need to read what is performed for what you pay. Sometimes there is no difference in the service, you might be paying for: that nicer chair you sit on, the longer length of time it takes for the service to be performed in order to feel pampered, high rent on the location maybe?, etc., etc.

    You get it.

How much should I tip at NAIL SALON?

Im not sure how much to tip at the nail salon or if i should tip at all.

Does anyone know how much they actually make and if I should be leaving a tip?

How much do you tip there? How much should I tip at NAIL SALON?
It is customary to leave a tip, but not required...Anyways, it has always been 10% of the total price of the commodity or the service. How much should I tip at NAIL SALON?
I tip anywhere where the service is good and my rule of thumb is 10% of the price you pay for the service.
Don't tip anything. They're lucky to have you as a customer at all.

And once you start tipping, it'll never be enough for them!
You should tip just like you would at a restaurant or when you get your hair done.

I always tip $5.00 unless I hate the way they did my nails then just $2.00.
I usually tip about $5. They make all the money from the work they do, and then they pay the owners of the salon booth rent. So really, you're just paying more to get your nails done.
I think you should be tip $2-$3. Of course it also depends on how much you get done. I know when I get my haircut (i'm a guy) at the barbershop I drop him 2 bucks but if he does my goatee and sideburns I give him 3 bucks. Hope this helped.
    I usually leave a 3 dollar tip.
You should definately tip. I tip 15-20%. In cash is best and most appreciated.
THINK ABOUT IT MOST PEOPLE CUT THERE OWN NAILS AND STUFF SO A LITTLE TIP HERE AND THERE WILL HELP A 5 $$$ TIP WOULDE BE NICE BUT ANY TIP IS GENEROUS....AND GRATEFUL

I have just opened a nail salon and I had a question about employee compensation.?

I am getting some mixed feed back as to the going rate for a nail tech. Some people say the current industry standard is a 50-50 split with the tech, other are saying 60 tech - 40 shop, yet others are saying 40 tech - 60 shop. Can anyone provide some insight on this? Thanks!!!I have just opened a nail salon and I had a question about employee compensation.?
Well start with what you are willing to pay.

And it can be different with different customers. For instance if the nail tech is bringing clients/ business then they should be getting 60/40 but if it's a new set of clients then 50/50. might be more appropriate. Also if the nail tech is experienced they may be entitled to more compensation.

Basically it depends on the situation.I have just opened a nail salon and I had a question about employee compensation.?
I would say it depends on whether they are bring customers to the shop with them then you could go 60/40 and if no customers coming with them but they are experienced they the same but if no new customers and no experience then 50/50 to start with negotiations open at a later date depending on how much business they bring in. may i ask where you opened up in. I am a soon to be a new nail tech and i am always looking for friends in the business. my best friend has been in business fo 20+ years.

Should i go into business as co-owner with a lady that i currently booth rent from in a nail salon?

I have been both renting from this lady for a little over a year now. I pay her $300.00 per month basically just to be there and for my table space. The owner has been in this same location for about 8-9 years. She has not invested in it and the place looks like a dump considering how long she has been there. The place is attached to a hair salon and it has alot of walk in customers, this is primarily why i stay and i get along with the owner. As of recent she started looking for a new salon and her reason is that she wants something that is in a better location and less ';ghetto'; atmosphere. She asked me if i would want to be partner, but what gets me is that she is going back to school for social work after working for the past 10 years for herself as a nail tech. I have my reasons why i dont want to take her up on her offer, but i would like some honest opinons from others just to see if i am on the right track with my thinking regarding going in as co-owner.Should i go into business as co-owner with a lady that i currently booth rent from in a nail salon?
Based on your information, I can see no reason why she would change and she'll just take her bad business ethics (keeping the place like a dump) to the next location. Even if you make the decisions which I doubt she'll go for, you'll still have a problem.

    Go with your gut.

Get out while the getting out is good and find another partner and grow your business.Should i go into business as co-owner with a lady that i currently booth rent from in a nail salon?
If it doesn't feel right, don't do it.

She wants your money in the business, but it is her business idea. If you are happy to hand over money for that business which she will run, then do it.

Alternatively you can cooperate in the same way you are doing now, with your rent offsetting the costs of her business. Then you are free to make your own business decisions and cut and run if you like.

If you want to expand your business, maybe find other people to do business with.

  • What is an appropriate tip for getting a fill at a nail salon?

20%What is an appropriate tip for getting a fill at a nail salon?
i usually start at 15% and work my way from there (up or down based on service) for EVERYTHING. if its a tip for something that you didnt pay for, ie: concierge bringing extra towels, someone helping with directions, etc. than i would say about 3-5 dollars depending on the severity/nature of the added help.

Can boys get their toes done with clear polish in a nail salon?

My sister wants to take me to her local nail salon in Metrowest and she set up an appointment for a pedi/mani with clear polish what should I do girls and I have to come every time she goesCan boys get their toes done with clear polish in a nail salon?
ok as a nail tech let me first say that i am so glad you are going to get this done. men should do this more. as far as polish goes....yes men do wear a clear polish...you have a few options if it is at a nice spa....

    1..basecoat and regular shiney topcoat

2..a mens polish---which is matte finish so this means no shine it would just look like your nails already do.

3..you can go for a buff and shine. you can either just buff them nice and smooth or go for a nice shine.

my clients are roughly 30% men. a lot of husbands and business men. so i say go for it and if you feel funny about wearing polish i would opt for #2 or 3. depending if they offer a mens polish....not all do.

good luck and have a great day!!Can boys get their toes done with clear polish in a nail salon?
okay well. some may laugh when they see the shine of the polish. but for christmas i got a pedicure for me and my dad. it was fun. but then when you nails grow you see the regular nail and the polish so just get them done and when they ask for what polish you want say none. so you get the whole experience but you dont have to worry about the polish. but you can get a clear coat if you want.
i personally clear nail polish on a guy is a bit to girly....but thats only if its really shiny. idk thats an iffy situation.
I don't think there is anything wrong with it at all. Just go and enjoy it. Heck, get regular polish if you want. No big deal!
Yes, the ones I know of do males and females
    yea jez azk dem

How much do you tip at a nail salon?

for any of the services? is it 15% or 20%?How much do you tip at a nail salon?
Depends on the price, and how well they did.

    for a good job:

    $15-$20 service....$5 tip

    $25-$35 service....$10 tip

    $40-$60 service....$15 tip

    $65 and up....$20

    for a crappy job:

    $15-$20 service.... $2-$3 tip

    $25-$35 service....$5-$7 tip

    $40-$60 service....$10-$13 tip

    $65 and up....$15 tip

And just be careful where you go. Make sure they properly sanitize their tools after each person. People don't know what they can get from some places. There are many incidences of getting AIDS, hepatitis, fungus, athletes foot..... Make sure they carry a valid license for the state you are in.

I have been a practicing, licensed nail teck for the last three years. How much do you tip at a nail salon?

    I give about 2 dollars

How do you remove gel nails without having to go to the nail salon to do it?

Go to your local beauty supply. Get some acetone. Soak nails in the acetone. It takes a long time. Just soak them for a while then wipe them off with a paper towel. Then repeat the process until all is removed. How do you remove gel nails without having to go to the nail salon to do it?
well you have to buy some acetone remover and buy a cutcile nipper and cut some of aryclic and saok your nails in the arylic and that how you get it offHow do you remove gel nails without having to go to the nail salon to do it?
you buy a bottle of acetone nail polish remover and put it in a bowl and soak you nails in it for about an hour (or however long it takes for the nails to melt off) also this may dry out your skin so if you put Vaseline on you skin around your nails and on your fingers it will protect them from getting damaged
the fastest way is to soak them in nail polish remover but make sure it is the king with acetone in it he nails will get really mushy i take them out every 2 min or so and use a towel to remove the gel then stick them back in takes about 7 to 10 min total Good luck
soak them in nail polish remover and they will come off. use a strong one from a beauty supply not over the counter from a pharmacy.

Or get one of the black nail files with 2 sides and file them down like you are buffing them until its all gone.
scrub them under freezing cold water
You could try soak them in vinegar until they feel loose if they don't caring on soaking them in vinegar and them pull them off slowly.
Girlfriend, that is an easy one! All that you have to do is go to your local beauty supply and request a large bottle of acetone. Now don't get nail polish remover but get the real stuff.Soak your nails one hand @ a time and use an orange stick or nail file to push off the softened gel starting at the cuticle and moving out to the tip of the nail. This dose take about 30min.to an hour per hand;however you will save $ on going to the salon for the soak off procedure which by the way is the same thing you will do at home they just supply the acetone.Good Luck.
