Can you go in a nail salon while pregnant?

I'm worried about the aroma from the chemicals in the nail salon. I was in there approximately two hours but i had on a mask. I could still smell the aroma a little through the mask and tried not to breath it in as much. Can this be harmful to my baby? I'm 30 weeks...please help. You'll be fine... although getting your nails done (acrylics) isn't recommended b/c the chemical treatment (monomer %26amp; polymer) can absorb into the natural nail itself (but thats at any time, not just in pregnancy!)


No studies have been performed that deal specifically w/ acrylic %26amp; pregnancy...


Also methyl-methacrylate (which is used in some acrylic) is a health hazard due to the potential of allergic reactions %26amp; asthma excerbations... so w/e salon your going to ask if they use MMA... (stay away from MMA salons whether your pregnant or not...)


If they use ethyl-methacrylate (EMA) is a safer alternative...





Anyways...


just go to a well-ventilated salon %26amp; visit earlier in the day when there are less fumes, Thats good you wore a mask too

yes it can not only is your skin absorbing the chemicals but, your also breathing them in as well.now that doesn't mean that your baby is going to be born with birth defects but, your increasing the risks.


and if you're going to through the effort of avoiding alcohol, cigarettes and legal and illegal drugs to keep your baby safe then add that to the list to.
i didnt go, way to strong. I went to the beauty school which is cheaper and since they dont do nails back to back it doesnt stink, they maybe do one or 2 manicures per day. Theres this other place where i usually go and its sooo badly ventilated that i dont think its good for u ur ur baby
You can, but I strongly suggest you do not. I mean really, just go without getting your nails done for nine months, because doing something like that could affect your baby for the rest of its life. I think your baby will be fine, but don't do it again.
Shouldn't be, I read in my what to expect book that after the first trimester you can get your nails done and everything should still be fine.
You should be fine. Especially since you wore a mask! I just wouldn't go to a place with poor ventilation.
